Zeldathon Mythos is Here!

Zeldathon Mythos is Here!

It's finally here: Zeldathon Mythos is currently running! If you've never heard of Zeldathon, in a very brief (Deku) nutshell it is a video game showcase event to raise money for charity. All video games featured are Zelda games. For this event, Make-A-Wish America is being supported. The Zeldathon folks explain it in more detail...

----

"Zeldathon is a group of over 100 entertainers and broadcast professionals from across the world. Every year, these participants gather to host high-quality gaming marathons. During these events, the team broadcasts their gameplay, camera feeds, and commentary online for one week straight, no breaks.

The gameplay is supported by live musical performances, sketch comedy, trivia, and other interactive segments. Fans of the group can tune in online at any point to engage via an ongoing chatroom.

Average viewership hovers around 2,000 viewers, and peaks reach as high as 15,000 people. By encouraging their audience to donate charity, the group has raised over two million dollars for great causes since 2009. Non-profit partners include St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Direct Relief, charity: water, and more."

So how did we support Zeldathon for this running? We donated two items to be used as prizes: an all-Cedar wood sliding lid box with a heart piece motif, and a wooden Korok bud vase with a hand-turned wooden flower. The vase is watertight, so it can be used for fresh flowers as well! How does this help? Our prizes (along with many other talented contributors' prizes) are featured throughout the event. If a viewer makes a donation during certain prize blocks, they can be eligible to win a prize featured in that block. Providing interesting prizes helps to drive donations!

The cedar wood box features eight cedar corner splines to reinforce the joints and a sliding lid that pulls back to reveal any treasures you might have stored inside. The lid is decorated with a heart piece motif (an item from the Zelda games), also made from Cedar. You can see more details about the box on its product page here: Handmade Small Cedar Wood Zelda Heart Piece Sliding Lid Box

The second item that we donated was a wooden bud vase with a Korok (a character from Zelda) design on the front. The sides of the vase are a lamination of different species of wood, and the front features differing species of wood as well (African Mahogany, Walnut, Maple, Red Oak). Not wanting to give an empty vase, we also made a hand-turned African Mahogany flower with a Maple wood central bud. This was mounted on a solid brass stem and placed into the vase. The vase is watertight, so the wooden flower can be removed and fresh flowers placed inside if desired. You can see more details about the vase on its product page at: Handmade Wood Zelda Korok Bud Vase with Handmade Wooden Flower.

This will be our first year supporting Zeldathon and Make-A-Wish America, so we wish everyone involved the best of luck on a successful production!
